JAKARTA: Noordin Mohammed Top was frequently sodomised, says a leading forensic doctor who examined the slain terrorist leader's body. The finding was made by Dr Mun'im Idris, the chief forensic physician at the University of Indonesia, who was asked to confirm an earlier analysis by forensic police.Dr Idris is widely used by police for forensic work."One of the forensic doctors brought up this issue that there was an anomaly of Noordin's body," he said. "The police asked my assistance because they believed I often handled cases like this before. I often handle sodomy-related crime."So I went to the hospital with them and examined the body. The fact is I found that he was often sodomised. The funnel-shaped form of his anus €“ there is no way that someone can have that form of anus unless he is often sodomised."Noordin married at least three times and had several children. If Noordin did engage in sodomy, it is in deep contravention of the tenets of the Koran, Islam's holy book, which the terrorist leader often selectively quoted to justify his mass murders. The Koran says such acts are "transgressing beyond bounds".The Hadith, the book describing the words and deeds of the prophet Muhammad goes further. "When a man mounts another man, the throne of God shakes," it says. "Kill the one that is doing it and also kill the one that it is being done to."Noordin is widely despised by most Indonesians, most of whom are Muslims. It is unclear if the finding will harm his reputation among his small band of supporters, who would probably dismiss it as propaganda.Noordin is not the first terrorist leader claiming to be a pious Muslim to be accused of homosexuality. Azhari Husin, Noordin's mentor and Jemaah Islamiah's leading bomb-maker, was also accused of having engaged in sodomy after his body was examined following his death in 2005.
